XRCO – the most prestigious awards show in the history of the world

posted by Punk Porn Princess on April 14, 2011

Last night was the XRCO Awards. I did not win anything. It is ok! I have had a lot of luck with awards this year…and it was about time my winning streak came to an end. I mean, who knows, maybe if I had won one more award, I would have become incredibly full of myself and then become a total bitch, and then… dun dun dun…STOPPED UPDATING MY BLOG! What if one more award would have made me feel like I was too good for my very own blog? Then what!? That would be pretty terrible. Right? Three AVN Awards, one Xbiz Award and one TLA Raw Award is enough to make me happy – but keep me in my place at the same time.

The movie “Joanna Angel and James Deen’s European Vacation” was nominated for “Best Gonzo Movie” . I was honored to be nominated… but I know BurningAngel Entertainment is not exactly known for making the best gonzo movies. People in porn take their gonzo movies very seriously, and I was happy just to be nominated. You see, gonzo technically means the camera is a character. Like the early John Stagliano movies or Rocco Siffredi movies in porn. However, today it has come to mean “porn without a plot“. When people think “gonzo“, they think girls in terms of glossy porno/stripper outfits, with glamorous makeup on, doing elaborate strip-teases and then walking into a room and having sex. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just not typically what I do.

My movie (the European vacation one) does in fact have a plot (it’s about um.. .me and James going to Paris and losing our passports and stuff), however the people filming it (me and James) are characters. We talk behind the camera, people talk to the camera, we reach out from behind the camera and do stuff. It meets the older definition of gonzo rather than the new one. I felt success in the fact that the movie was acknowledged and categorized as a gonzo more than anything. The movie lost to the Elegant Angel movie “Tori Black is Pretty Filthy , 2″. It is sort of a rule in porn, that if you are against Tori Black in any category at all, you’re going to lose. That’s kinda just how it goes. It’s cool. I’m fine with it.

My only qualm about last night was that in the program for the show, there was a list of all the awards and all the nominations. I looked on the program under “Best Gonzo Movie” and … low-and-behold…all the movies nominated in the category were there EXCEPT MINE! Ahhh! I thought I was crazy. I was like, did I actually get nominated for this? Or did I just make it up. I looked on the XRCO website from my phone (I don’t know how I would have solved this dilemma had Smart Phones not been invented) and my movie was listed on there. I think it was a blunt way of XRCO breaking the news to me that I was definitely not going to win.

Aside from that nonsense, I had a good time. The fun thing about the XRCO Awards is that it is the most unorganized, disaster of an awards show, so it really felt more like a party than anything stuffy or prestigious or important at all. Half the presenters did not show up and very few people who won awards went on stage to accept them. Some of the people were not present, and some people were just too busy getting a drink at the bar to go on stage and accept their awards. I was not offended by this train wreck of an awards show whatsoever. In fact, I found it refreshing.

So here are some pics from the show!!!

Hiya-my company, Pipeline, does the PR for the awards show. I want to thank you for coming and for your apt reflection on the unique nature of the XRCO Awards, lol. It is always a pleasure to read what you have to say regardless of the topic, by the way.
Clearly I was NOT consulted on the printing of the programme or the selection of Best Gonzo Release, or of course you would have had to contend with the nasty megalomania adding that one more award would have inevitably caused. I think you do great work in all respects, and working in this field is much better for your presence. Keep it up, and thanks again!
